Workshop on using ICTs to end violence rated as very good

The National Strategy Workshop on ICT and VAW held on 22nd and 23rd September 2009 was given a four star rating by the participants. The participatory approach to the presentations was found to be very engaging and interactive in that the participants were able to give in their input when opportunity was given to them about certain concerns they had.

The participants found the workshop to be very informative since it was targeting a ‘new’ sphere in the empowerment of women and the girl child to bring about social change in our world today. Most of them left as ‘new’ people who were empowered and willing to join in the struggle to combat violence against women with the use of the different ICT tools.

The need to have more of such workshops and sensitization activities was greatly expressed by the participants. They also noted that a database of violence incidents using ICT tools should be created so as to give better illustrations during future activities, thereby enriching them.
