Omolayo Samuel: Climbing above the stereotypes

Omolayo Samuel became a role model for women in ICT when she became the first woman to climb a communications tower in northern Nigeria, and quite likely even in the whole country, on August 1 of this year. She is a member of the Fantsuam Foundation's ICT Department.

APC PARM ha desarrollado un modulo sobre género, comunidad y las TIC para el taller, y las mujeres están especialmente invitadas a concursar.

TRICALCAR Project - Weaving wireless community networks for development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The second community wireless workshop will be held in conjunction with APC-member Nodo Tau in Rosario, Argentina. This workshop will train technicians from Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. A third workshop will be held in 2008 for the Central America and Mexico. The APC WNSP has developed a module on Gender, Communities and ICTs for the workshop, and women technicians were especially encouraged to apply.

Kutoma Wakumuna, AAW member from Zambia

Kutoma Wakumuna, who is currently undertaking a PhD in Gender and Information Communication Technologies at Coventry University, is interviewed by Sylvie Niombo, APC Africa Women Co-coordinator.

Kutoma Wakumuna is a Zambian woman researching women and ICTs. She recently joined the APC Africa Women (AAW) network. She has published several research papers on gender and ICTs and also contributed to a case study for the “Women's ICT-Based Enterprise for Development" project coordinated by the University of Manchester's Institute for Development Policy and Management.
