checking the member's space out

in

i am liking this member's space features! lots of stuff. maybe to the point of too much :D but it's cool!

blog:

  • not sure about the cross-posting to LJ. going to post this and see how it works (see comment)
  • there is an edit function, it's cool! :) not entirely clear on the outset, but hopefully we can encourage people to play?
  • also wondering if there should be some kind of statement, to say opinions held belong solely to bloggers (in case of flamewars... we can't all be polite no? heheh. and maybe even a statement on that, no personal attacks in this space?)

shoutbox:

  • my shout isn't showing up. it says it's saved, but not appearing on the side?

forum:

  • not entirely clear what's the difference between blog and forum. maybe the introductory for both could mention the purpose of both different kinds of content. i.e. where would blog posts end up, who might be reading it, what kinds of stuff can be blogged about; or whose going to be part of this forum, what for? etc

RTF:

  • sorry for being a brat, but i find that RTF text editors (buttons at the top of text) is handy and a nice touch for people to blog and make it pretty, without necessarily getting into the whole HTML thing. or like LJ and blogspot and wordpress, there's always options for both (e.g. view/source). which also makes it clearer if it's possible to embed something like javascript?

switchbox:

  • not entirely sure what "webforms" are for? and also switchbox is a label i'm not so familiar with. chances are, i'd just leave it alone and not use it, which means it's not going to fulfill its use function? or maybe i'm just a lazy git. heh.

layout:

  • now the right column looks very short and the left column looks really long! could be a design thing, and when the fonts etc are properly sized etc, it'll look different. but just a note :)
  • which reminds me, do we have the increase font size button on this site? it's a good thing to have no? speaking from an almost-blind point of view!

summary:
LOVE the members space. it's cool, and provides a lot of ways that members can participate directly to building content for the site etc. Wondering how the multi-lingual option would look like (will they all show? or just EN show in EN site, SP in SP site and FR in FR site?).

but in short, awesome work erika & sarah! you grrls rock :D
