Globalnet WSIS Updates from IWTC's - Back

The IWTC Globalnets have focussed on gender advocacies within the WSIS process, since the first prepcom, July 2002. They provide useful background information, map out the different spaces for gender and ICT advocacy, and highlight some of the work of gender and ICT advocates throughout the process.

  • #198 (July 18th 2002): Brief overview of the work of WSIS Multi-stakeholder Gender Caucus, - at the first PrepCom - including key gender and ICT advocacies
  • #208 (September 20, 2002): Updates on the work of Gender and ICT advocates within the larger Civil Society Plenary Space including the CRIS Campaign (Communication Rights in the Information Society) and the formation of the NGO gender strategies working group. Also included is a brief calendar of related events.
  • #215 (January 13, 2003): Overview of inputs to the Draft Declaration and Action plan by the Civil SOciety Plenary Group, focussing on gender and ICT advocacies. Updates on regional meetings in ASia and Latin America.
  • #217 (January 17th, 2003): Special report from the Asian Regional Meeting. 'Where are the women at the Asia/Pacific regional meeting (including observations of women's *visibility* during the event) - and concerns regarding threats to Civil Society participation in the process.
  • #218 (January 17th, 2003): Report from the Gender Forum at the WSIS Asia/Pacific Regional Meeting by Mavic Balleza
