APC WNSP will be participating in a myriad of events at GK3, the Global Knowledge Partnership's Event on the Future this year, including the International Taskforce on Women and ICTs (ITF), the closing of this year's Take Back the Tech! Campaign, workshops on ICT policy and GEM, as well as participating in GK3 panels.  Keep an eye out for further details!

The APC WNSP will offer a Gender Evaluation Methodology Workshop in Spain with the support of Fundación Ciudadana, the Women's Institute and other organisations.  APC WNSP's Dafne Sabanes Plou together with Assumpcio Guasch from APC-member Pangea and Espai de Dones will offer the workshop to government officers and telecentre projects in the region. 

El PARM de APC ofrecerá un taller sobre su Metodología de Evaluación desde una perspectiva de Género para iniciativas en internet con el apoyo de la Fundación Ciudadana, el Instituto de Mujeres y otras organizaciones. The APC WNSP will hold a panel on Openness at the second round of the IGF, debating solutions for balancing openness and security|safety concerns in the context of content regulation. In particular, it seeks to enhance engagement of intended beneficiaries & 'vulnerable groups' in negotiations concerning what constitutes illegal/harmful content, for whom, who should intervene at what type/level of harmful content and how. Central to this debate is the role of government and recognition that States have a duty to protect the rights of all to freedom of expression & information.

TRICALCAR Project - Weaving wireless community networks for development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The second community wireless workshop will be held in conjunction with APC-member Nodo Tau in Rosario, Argentina. This workshop will train technicians from Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. A third workshop will be held in 2008 for the Central America and Mexico. The APC WNSP has developed a module on Gender, Communities and ICTs for the workshop, and women technicians were especially encouraged to apply.

Dafne Sabanes Plou, Latin America and Caribbean Regional Coordinator for the APC WNSP, will offer two workshops on GEM in collaboration with Magaly Pineda of CIPAF and Amparo Arango from the National Commission on the Information  and Communication Society.  Together with co-trainer Giovanna Tipan of the APC WNSP and Nuevared.org, Ecuador, Dafne will address gender and ICT issues in local development projects and for public officers, as well as provide training in the GEM Tool.  See blogs in the GEM Zone.

APC and APC Africa Women will be at Highway Africa 2007 this year with digital storytelling workshops, presentations on content, gender and ICTs, and the Take Back the Tech! Campaign.

WENT Africa 2007 will focus on digital storytelling and women in situations of armed conflict. The content will be developed by women, for women and will add to the pool of women who can train in digital storytelling.
